At Gen Con, Free League Publishing has announced the Dragonbane RPG, a brand new edition of Sweden’s first and biggest tabletop roleplaying game Drakar och Demoner – now also to be published in English for the first time. Dragonbane / Drakar och Demoner comes to Kickstarter on August 30th.

Where Dragonbane began

Drakar och Demoner (Dragonbane) was originally launched in Sweden in 1982. Now, Free League celebrates its 40th anniversary with a brand new and reimagined edition. Described as having one foot firmly planted in the heritage of decades of Swedish tabletop roleplaying gaming and the other in the modern and innovative game design for which Free League Publishing is known worldwide.

“Drakar och Demoner is part of the DNA of Swedish tabletop roleplaying, and we’re thrilled to offer our version of this legendary game to an international audience,” says lead designer and Free League CEO Tomas Härenstam.

Free League call this playstyle “mirth and mayhem roleplaying”. It is supposedly great for long campaigns. However, it is also perfect for a one-shot for players who just want to have some quick fun at the table for a night. The core set will include at least one complete adventure. Hopefully, as stretch goals are unlocked there will be much more available for players.

We at GamEir are particularly excited for Dragonbane. After all, we have covered almost every title that Free League have released over the years. They are a dedicated team with top-notch quality behind all their titles.

The Kickstarter pre-launch page for Drakar och Demoner / Dragonbane is now live. This will help everyone to sign up to be notified the moment the campaign starts.
