More in from the Ubisoft Forward digital conference, Ubisoft announced that the next instalment in the Assassin’s Creed franchise, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, will release worldwide on the 17th of November on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Epic Games Store and Ubisoft Store on Windows PC, as well as on UPLAY+*, Ubisoft’s subscription service and Stadia.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will release on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 upon the launch of the consoles. Players who purchase Assassin’s Creed Valhalla on Xbox One or PlayStation 4 will be able to upgrade their game to the next-gen version (Xbox Series X or PlayStation 5) at no additional cost.*

The next Assassin in a long line

Ninth century AD. Driven from Norway by endless wars and dwindling resources, a Viking raider, Eivor, leads a clan of Norsemen across the icy North Sea to the rich lands of England’s broken kingdoms. Their mission: establish a new permanent home, no matter the cost.

In Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, you are Eivor, a fierce Viking warrior raised on tales of battle and glory. Explore a mysterious and beautiful open world set against the brutal backdrop of England’s Dark Ages. Raid your enemies, grow your settlement, and build your political power in the quest to earn a place among the gods in Valhalla.

Wars will rage. Kingdoms will fall. This is the age of the Vikings.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is an intriguing game. That is all I can really say at the moment. I think that the idea of a Viking assassin is somewhat alien in my mind for some reason. I think it’s because of how Vikings are always portrayed as brutish, glory-seeking maniacs and the life of an assassin is pretty much on the other side of the spectrum.

Nevertheless, with the success of the last two Assassin’s Creed titles, I live in cautious optimism that this will be another historical hoorah for Ubisoft.
