InXile Entertainment have released a brand new trailer for the third installment in their classic RPG series. The game was successfully crowd funded on Fig, with the goal being passed in 2016. This new title will see players control a group of Desert Rangers in the northern stretches of Colorado, trying to bring law and order to a post-nuclear world. In the trailer we find out several important plot points for Wasteland 3. The Patriarch of Colorado has summoned the Rangers north and they are left with little choice. With their homeland in dire need of aid, they must abide by the Patriarch and risk the frozen climes, or else condemn their own lands to death.
Wasteland 3 was available to play as a demo at Gamescom 2019, while there will also be an Alpha demo made available to campaign backers. Wasteland 3 will release on Xbox One, Xbox Game Pass, PlayStation 4, Windows, Mac, and Linux in Spring 2020.

The series began life way back in 1988. Wasteland launched on the Apple II, and ports followed for Commodere-64, and MS-DOS. A cult hit which adhered to tabletop mechanics, nostalgia beckoned for the game during the late noughties. InXile eventually launched a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2012 to fund Wasteland 2. As a result of this, Wasteland 2 was released on PC and Mac in 2014, while the enhanced Directors Cut edition followed up with a console release in 2014. This sequel drew great praise from critics and fans alike, and the third edition was almost inevitable. Praise for the game focused on its adherence to RNG based combat, and deep character customization options. Compounded to that, the game features a deep plot and branching story lines, impacted by the players choices.
Wasteland 3 seems set to follow in the series’ already laid footsteps. Naturally the graphics have improved massively, and there are several debut features for the series. These will include a player vehicle, more fluid team combat, and multiplayer co-op play. By shifting the narrative to icy Colorado, InXile will also introduce new environmental dangers. Naturally enough, your team of Rangers will have a solid arsenal of weapons at their disposal and team members may be customized in a variety of ways. How you decide to spec you characters will determine what weapons they may use, and their proficiency with such. There will be a plethora of other skills available too, including some RPG favorites; lock-picking, medic, perception, and, of course, ass kissing.
For the first time in the history of the Wasteland franchise, you will be able to take a friend with you on your journey into the post-apocalyptic wastes! Wasteland 3 opens up the possibility to play through the campaign with a friend; both of you controlling your own squad of Rangers.
