The Witcher

Now if you’ve been following along with our coverage of The Witcher Netflix series, you’ll be aware of two points. Firstly, all major show announcements come via social media. Secondly, show creator Lauren S. Hissrich is fond of an oul Tweet!

When is came to the shows casting however, thus far, we’ve only had the “Cavill as Geralt” announcement. Having returned from a self-imposed Twitter hiatus recently, Hissrich though, was expected by fans to start dropping names. It was surprising enough then, when, yesterday afternoon, an exclusive interview between The Hollywood Reporter and Hissrich was the source of this latest casting news. So that cast then, in no particular order:

The rest of the pack

During the interview Hissrich did point out that casting has been underway since June. So far over 50 actors have been added to the Witcher Netflix series, with Ciris’ casting having been particularly intensive. They auditioned over 200 young women throughout Europe for that role alone! The show creator did also address the recent casting controversy:

…this property has such a passionate fan base. I think any leak at all was going to attract this type of attention, and with any attention comes backlash to that attention. I do think that whatever information is trickling out there, there will be people responding positively to it and people responding negatively to it… One of the things I feel most strongly about is people being afraid that we’re going to strip out the cultural context of The Witcher, to remove its Slavic roots, the very thing people in Poland are proud of. That couldn’t be further from the truth.

Hissrich also goes on to discuss the casting of henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, a decision which drew mixed opinions from fans. About picking the right man for the white wolf she claims “We met in early April and had a very general meeting. I then went off and met with hundreds of other candidates for Geralt and never really got Henry out of my mind.”

One thing about The Witcher Netflix series that us gamers will want to know of course is will there be any influence from our beloved gaming series. Apparently the show will try to avoid taking cues from the visual representation of the video games. Hissrich prefers, instead, to be “pulled back from playing the video games because I wanted to make sure the show we were creating was its own unique thing.”

Great Expectations

So there we have it. A full cast (except for Roach, of course!), with little left to confirm now, save for a shooting schedule and release date. With having covered and discussed so much of The Witcher Netflix series already this year, it seems like the shows release should be just around the corner. Pity then, we’re gonna have such a wait on our hands! So what do you think of this latest news? Think Anya Chalotra is a bit young for Yennefer? Or maybe Adam Levy won’t suit Mousesacks’ awesome beard?? Leave your comment and let us know! GamEir.

Currently, if you have been following with this policy of this Witcher Netflix series, then you’re going to be mindful of 2 points. So much more than 50 celebrities are introduced into the Witcher Netflix series, even together with Ciris’ casting was especially intensive. I subsequently moved and satisfied hundreds of different applicants to Geralt and hardly ever got Henry out in my head” 1 thing concerning The Witcher Netflix show that us might need to understand needless to say is will there be some way out of our gaming collection.
