Dead Age
Tactical zombie horror RPG Dead Age has just been released on Xbox One. It’s available now for download for the low low price of €11.99. Although it will go up to its regular price of €14.99 in a few days. Now I’m going to give you a rundown on the game, and it’s going to sound an awful lot familiar. But stick with me here, Dead Age has a “Very Positive” rating on Steam, and this Xbox version has been tweaked and perfected by the developers, along with suggestions and advice from the community.
Age of the Dead
Dead Age sees you in control of a small group of zombie apocalypse survivors. Base management, crafting, turn-based combat, and mission selection are the name of the (zombie) game. Tough decisions will have to be made, as your crew lives with the scythe of permadeath hanging over their heads. The combat does set Dead Age apart from most modern zombie games. Built on a squad turn-based system, not unlike Final Fantasy, you will have a number of different options. You can act strategically, use different skills and weapons and even plants bombs and traps.
Decisions you make in conflict situations affect the story’s future.
You can choose to be a hero and save more survivors, or let them die to stock up on supplies. You can build romance relationships with other survivors or start rivalries that may have disastrous chain reactions.
Daily events offer new dangers and situations in which you must make choices that affect the survival chances of your camp.
Live long enough, and you’ll have a chance to unlock one of the game’s six possible endings.
Dead Forever
Developer Silent Dreams have also thrown in a rogue-lite feature to Dead Age. If you die in the game, you may start again with a new character. Upgrade your new character with purchases earned from your previous playthrough. Tidy. Dead Age features a non linear story, with decisions you make changing how the game will unfold. Silent Dreams have a solid history in the RPG genre. Their previous releases were the Grotesque Tactics series, which were all critically well received.
