After E3 is before Gamescom, so let’s start this series to get on the road to Gamescom 2019. Kalypso is a publisher of various strategy titles. They currently employ more than 100 people at 7 locations in Germany, England, and the USA. They also own two development studios, Realmforge Studios, and Gaming Minds Studios. At Gamescom 2019 they will be showcasing 6 games. Two of which will be world premieres. This is the most amount of games ever shown at a conference by Kalypso.
Space Premiere
After Realmforge Studios delivered the, on Steam highly rated (94%), game Dungeons 3, at Gamescom 2019 they will be premiering their brand new IP. The game is said to be a strategy game with a space setting. As a big fan of games like Sins of a Solar Empire, I cannot wait to see what they have cooking at Realmforge Studios.
Land and Sea Premiere
Gaming Mind Studios will showcase the continuation of a well-known economy strategy IP. furthermore, their recent release Railway Empire had a score of 95% on Steam. This does give an indication that the lads and ladies there know what they are doing. Will the game rise from the oceans or sink to the bottom of the sea? We will find out at Gamescom 2019.
Sir, yes, Sir
Kalypso also seems to also have been bitten by the HD remaster bug. They will provide us with our first hands-on experience at Gamescom 2019. Not only will the game be released on the PC, but also on the current console generation. The Nintendo Switch version will even have touch controls. I used to fight my way through the original two games, which sometimes had a quite brutal difficulty level. Seeing that the isometric view is getting its next spring, with games like Divinity 2, it might just be the right time to get the boots on the ground.
Veni, Vidi, vici
Pyro Studios will be showing the HD remaster of their strategy hit Praetorians. The game is set in the timeframe of Rome emerging from the dust. In your quest to become emperor you will fight epic battles in Egypt, Gaul, and Italy. To emerge as the new emperor of Rome, you will have to master the control of your units on the various battlefields. Similar to Commandos 2 HD Remake, Praetorians HD Remake will be released on PC and on the current console generation.
Tropical Rule
With their successful rise as the dictator of their own island on PC, Limbic Entertainment will give all of us another chance as a hobby dictator to rule on consoles. The controls have been edited to suit a joypad. For the first time in the series, you can manage extensive archipelagos and build huge bridges to connect your islands. Establish new means of transportation and infrastructure. Send your Tropicans on raids to steal the wonders of the world, including the Statue of Liberty and the Eiffel Tower. Customize your palace at will, and give election speeches on your balcony to win the favour of your subjects. So get your swimming trunks, military jacket and cigar ready. Tropico 6 will release on consoles this year.
Strategic blood sucking
The Swedish developer Palindrome Interactive will be showing their game Immortal Wars: Vampire Wars. It is a mix of empire management, turn-based combat, and card game. The player commands one of three unique vampire clans with distinctive units, powers, gameplay mechanics and characters. Play as the bloodthirsty Dracul, the ancient
Nosfernus or the mystical Moroia! Vampire Wars will release on PC in 2019. The console version will come creeping from the shadows in 2020.
