Tekken 8 the latest entry in the grandaddy of beat ’em ups for the PlayStation was announced and the internet was very happy. During the recent State of Play, many gamers were wondering what we’d see and we were not disappointed when we saw son versus father in a stellar bit of footage.

Tekken 8 – As much as things change, they stay the same

Developed by Bandai Namco Studios, Tekken 8 pushes the envelope for fighting games. It promises to take full advantage of the power of the latest generation of consoles. Tekken 8 picks up after the gruesome battle that ended in Heihachi Mishima’s defeat, focusing on a new rivalry. That’s right, it’s father against son as Jin Kazama stands in defiance against Kazuya Mishima’s quest for world dominance.

It is mind-bending to think how far this franchise has come in its 25 years. Tekken 2 was one of my first titles on my PlayStation. I remember finding Kazuya such a brutal but brilliant fighter and I feel the same for his son Jin. It’s going to be great to see these two face off for what is to be the fight of the century. Also if you want that Tekken itch scratched and can’t wait for the game, there is the Netflix series. It follows a young Jin as he tries to understand his destiny. Its style is interesting and is a decent compliment to the beloved beat ’em up franchise.

Tekken 8 brings the fight to the next generation, using Unreal Engine 5 and coming exclusively to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
