Developers Odd Tales are not letting too much out of the bag with their upcoming title The Last Night. What I do know is it looks stunning! A cinematic Sci-fi thriller played in a Cyber Punk 2D style platform. This game will give you optical highs with its fluorescent neon lighting yet it has dark, edgy undertones. Think Blade Runner in 2D!
Poor Charlie
The Last Night is set in a dystopian world where machines have surpassed humans. You find yourself playing the role of Charlie. What we know about Charlie is limited except for he is ” a second-class citizen living in a city brimming with augmentation and citizens living a gamified existence”.
We are given the sense that Charlie is a very disheartened and somewhat restricted lad, resulting from a childhood injury which limits his experience of the world around him. At some point, he is given an opportunity to gain control and take matters into his own hands, but at a cost. Exactly what that cost is, I guess we will have to wait for the game to find out.
Stylish 2D World
It will be released in 2018, but as for a date, we don’t know yet. What we do know is If you are into your 2D indie games and looking for something edgy and interesting then The Last Night is definitely worth a look!
