Olivier Derivière is an IFMCA award-winning composer, hailed by MTV as “Game music’s eclectic daredevil” and known for his work on ‘Remember Me’ and ‘Assassin’s Creed IV Freedom Cry’. For more than a decade he has been scoring music for animation, films and video games. Derivière is widely regarded for both his composition and innovative approach to connecting his music to the player’s game experience.
In his latest work on psychological thriller, GET EVEN, (developed by The Farm 51 and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe) Derivière is once again challenging the industry’s conventions and enhancing player immersion through music.
To fully immerse the players into GET EVEN’s atmospheric, multi-dimensional story Derivière created a visceral and emotional musical score infused with sound sourced from the game’s environment and that reacts, in real-time, to the player’s actions.
“Through the use of real-time MIDI, live musicians recorded in ambisonics, and other audio tricks, the gaming environment itself is now an orchestra waiting to be conducted, and everything in it is a potential instrument” says Derivière.
This is an intense and genre-defying musical journey combining organic, electronic music and live orchestra. GET EVEN’s score was recorded and mixed in 3D audio with the Brussels Philharmonic at Galaxy Studios, Belgium. Derivière’s music captures the vast spectrum of emotions, by connecting the music to the meaning of the game.
Driven by his passion to provide players with a unique musical experience Derivière continues to innovate and enhance the interactive experience through music with GET EVEN. For more information visit http://olivierderiviere.com.
