In a surprising Nintendo Direct announcement, Valve’s beloved cake-conspiracy series Portal will be making its way to the Nintendo Switch. Portal:  Companion Collection includes both games in the series, a first for this franchise on a Nintendo platform. Hell, aside from the Portal Bridge Constructor packs this may be a first for Valve on a Nintendo console full stop!

Using a portal gun to open up a mind-bending link between applicable surfaces you’re put to the test by maniac AI GLaDOS in a series of puzzle rooms. These test your spatial awareness and problem-solving skills, while also cracking you up with their absurd black humour. Combining the campaigns of the first and second games and including the co-op missions too you’ll have the complete portable Portal experience at your fingertips.

It seems like the collection will be available on the e-Shop only, with a vague 2022 release window promised. The price will be $19.99 in the US. A real bargain for true puzzle excellence! Other details are sparse but we should hear more as we near a release date.

Hopefully, this isn’t the last of Valve’s Switch efforts. The prospect of Half-Life or Left 4 Dead on the go is too alluring…
