BLEACH Rebirth of Souls, the new video game based on the legendary franchise created by Tite Kubo, has revealed more about its gameplay in this new trailer. Players will be able to defeat their foes with a variety of different ways to get the upper hand or turn the tide of battle.

In BLEACH Rebirth of Souls, players will be able to use each character’s unique skills to gain the upper hand over their opponents in stylish swordfights with characters from the franchise. However, they will also be able to utilise features such as the reverse action and well-timed precise combos to get themselves back from a tricky position. As the fight progresses, characters will be able to use their iconic Bankai to unleash very powerful and unique attacks to finish their opponents.

BLEACH is a very popular sword-fighting battle action comic series that ran in Shueisha’s shōnen manga magazine, Weekly Shonen Jump, from 2001 to 2016. The anime was broadcast from 2004 to March 2012 and a total of four movie versions have been released so far. Then there is the final chapter, Thousand-Year Blood War Arc. Which features all-new character designs and more powerful characters. BLEACH has received enthusiastic support not only in Japan but also worldwide and its popularity continues to grow.

BLEACH Rebirth of Souls is currently under development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PC.

Bandai Namco Europe has a big announcement about TEKKEN 8. It has surpassed a total of 1 million units worldwide on its first day of release and 2 million units in the first month. Support for TEKKEN 8 will continue through various content updates, esports events, music and licensing announcements.

TEKKEN 8 – Taking the Tournament around the world

The next step in TEKKEN esports, the TEKKEN WORLD TOUR 2024, will start on the 13th of April. After successful TEKKEN WORLD TOUR events that have accompanied the lifecycle of TEKKEN 7, players will now compete in TEKKEN 8 through TEKKEN WORLD TOUR 2024 events across the world to earn points and progress through the rankings, with the hope of reaching the TEKKEN WORLD TOUR Finals and having a chance to become the best TEKKEN 8 player worldwide.

The sale of over 2 million copies in the first month of release greatly outpaces its predecessor, “TEKKEN 7.” It’s impressive because TEKKEN 7 is still being played. It also has the series’ total highest sales record of over 11.8 million copies worldwide.

If you’d like to know our thoughts, check out Lewis’ glowing review.

Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc. and FromSoftware, Inc. have offered the first glimpse of ELDEN RING Shadow of the Erdtree. They have released a new trailer for the expansion, which will be released globally on the 21st of June. And it looks amazing. Let’s just hope we’re all ready for what is to come.

A new land to conquer, a new land to fear

Entering the Shadow of the Erdtree looks genuinely terrifying. New beasts, new abominations and an awakened Miquella. That’s right folks, the brother of Malenia, possibly the most powerful being in all of The Lands Between.

“The Land of Shadow.
A place obscured by the Erdtree.
Where the goddess Marika first set foot.
A land purged in an unsung battle.
Set ablaze by Messmer’s flame.
It was to this land that Miquella departed.
Divesting himself of his flesh, his strength, his lineage.
Of all things Golden.
And now Miquella awaits
the return of his promised Lord”

The first look at the expansion comes two years after ELDEN RING — the world created by FromSoftware director Hidetaka Miyazaki and George R. R. Martin, author of the masterpiece fantasy series “A Song of Ice and Fire” — released to broad critical acclaim, having won numerous prestigious awards around the world, including Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2022, Golden Joystick Award 2022, 26th D.I.C.E. Awards, and the 2023 Game Developers Choice Awards, and many other distinctions.

In ELDEN RING Shadow of the Erdtree players will step into the Land of Shadow to explore a new adventure full of mysteries and danger, to confront threatening bosses with new weapons and armour. Follow in the footsteps of Miquella and unravel the dark side of the ELDEN RING story.

ELDEN RING Shadow of the Erdtree will be available for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam. Pre-orders are now available for all platforms, including special bundles that include the base game, which is required to play the expansion.

If you haven’t noticed yet, Tekken 8 is due in just over a couple of weeks. There have been twenty-seven character reveal trailers, a handful of story trailers, two betas and a demo.

But how did we get here?

How has a rough-looking, stiff-to-control at times fighting game from the PlayStation 1 and arcades in the 90s managed to keep in the public consciousness of video games? The answer is the story.

Since the console editions from the very beginning, every character in Tekken had some form of cinematic story to watch unfold. You got this as a reward for making your way to the end of the arcade gauntlet and becoming King of Iron Fist.

Every character has a story and that story, believe it or not, has continued all these years, each installment adding a new chapter to the rosters catalogue of life events. From all these stories throughout the years, one story stands out from the rest, the story that each game revolves around and is the anchor point for all events that surround it.

The family feud of Heihachi Mashima, his son Kazuya Mashima and his son Jin Kazama.

I could go on and explain this to you at length. However, Tekken 8 developers Bandai Namco know how important it is to get up to speed with the lore. So in their infinite wisdom, they have hired award-winning actor Brian Cox. He knows something about dysfunctional families. Also, he provided the antagonistic voice of ‘The Director’ in Rockstar Games’ 2003 title “Manhunt”. In this video, he delivers an electrifying monologue that covers the Mishima tale. From Tekken to the penultimate showdown about to unfold in the upcoming Tekken 8.

This video alone is enough to spark interest in the series, reignite that old fighting game flame or just say to yourself “Hey, that’s your man off the tele talking about parents and kids launching each other off the side of cliffs. That’s mad.”

Watch the video, download the demo, get your muscle memory unlocked, learn the ‘buttons’ and get yourself ready for the full release of Tekken 8 on January 25th.

Words were provided by the King of the Iron Fist fan club, Lewis Magee.

Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe S.A.S. blasted global audiences with a Kamehameha by announcing DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO – the first entry to the DRAGON BALL Z: BUDOKAI TENKAICHI series in more than 15 years.

The debut trailer, which showcased in-game footage, revealed a visually stunning, authentic continuation of the BUDOKAI TENKAICHI series alongside faithful recreations of legendary characters and their special powers as they fight epic battles on massive and destructible arenas. DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO is coming exclusively to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC via Steam.

“After more than 15 years, we are happy to bring one of the most beloved DRAGON BALL game franchises to new heights, giving players what they have been waiting for while introducing it to a whole new generation,” said Arnaud Muller, CEO at Bandai Namco Europe. “DRAGON BALL Z: BUDOKAI TENKAICHI pioneered 3D action battles and DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO continues the legacy while adding new genre-defining features made possible only with the latest game platforms to deliver one of the most immersive anime game experiences of all time.”

Developed by Spike Chunsoft, the developers behind the original BUDOKAI TENKAICHI series, DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO brings the series forward to a new era by harnessing the power of Unreal Engine 5 and pushing the envelope for gameplay and features in an arena brawler. DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO also brings the franchise back to the original Japanese naming convention, where the original DRAGON BALL Z: BUDOKAI TENKAICHI was titled DRAGON BALL Z: Sparking!.

With this official trailer my hype level for this latest entry in the TENKAICHI series is over 9000 (I had to). Seeing this series return with a lick of new paint and bursting with even more characters is thrilling. Let’s just hope it lives up to the lofty legacy of those who came before. I have a sneaking suspicion it will work out though. The trailer just looks so spine-tinglingly intense. Shoutout to the insane Saiyan Broly who gets his moment in the sun.

The Dragon’s Dogma 2 Showcase confirmed the long-awaited sequel arrives on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam on March 22nd, 2024, with pre-orders available now. Dragon’s Dogma 2 director Hideaki Itsuno and producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi also unveiled a new trailer and gameplay for the narrative-driven action RPG, including the new Trickster Vocation, new enemies, and deeper insights into the story and gameplay choices players will make as they delve deeper into the immersive fantasy world.

Adventure in Two Nations

In Dragon’s Dogma 2, players experience the tale of the Arisen, a champion whose heart is stolen by the Dragon. While the sequel’s setting mirrors the lush rolling hills of the cult classic Dragon’s Dogma and its Dark Arisen expansion, this original adventure takes place in a parallel world containing two nations with distinct approaches to the Dragon threat.

Queen Regent Disa has installed a false Arisen to maintain control of the kingdom of Vermund for her son. Meanwhile, the beastren nation of Battahl considers the otherworldly Pawns to be a source of misfortune and has turned to worship of the Lambent Flame and their empress Nadinia to ward off calamity. The showcase provided a look at some of the destinations that quests can lead players to, such as the reclusive elven enclave of Sacred Arbor. The elves there communicate in their own language, and Pawns capable of understanding their speech will translate for the Arisen while in your party. Pawns can also specialize in other skills, making each of their personalities more distinct.

A Journey Defined by Choice

Upon starting their journey in Dragon’s Dogma 2, players will be able to craft both their Arisen and Main Pawn using an intuitive and deep character creator that makes use of photogrammetry to enhance the realism of each character’s appearance. Additionally, players can choose the personality of their main Pawn, which will determine their behaviour and conversation choices throughout the game. As players progress, they will unlock additional vocations such as the newly revealed Trickster.

This Arisen-exclusive vocation can conjure illusions through the smoke created by its unique weapon, the Censer. Tricksters can use illusions to deceive enemies into fighting against their own, and can temporarily increase the power of Pawns beyond their limits. The new Trickster vocation showcases the ways players can manipulate and take advantage of the enhanced enemy AI to open entirely new combat opportunities.

The digital event also provided a first look at the returning Warrior and Sorcerer Vocations that will be available to both the Arisen and Pawns. The Warrior boasts a robust physique specializing in direct combat, with the strength to endure enemy attacks. Warriors are masters of two-handed weapons such as the greatsword and the hammer. The Sorcerer is a vocation completely specialized in various magick attacks. Their magick is conjured with both hands through a large staff and can change the tide of battle at any given opportunity.

Confront Fearsome Foes

Director Itsuno and Producer Hirabayashi provided a first look at several monsters during the digital event, including the new Talos enemy, a towering bronze golem capable of wreaking untold destruction with a single step. After Talos rises from the waters, players will need to make use of the various tools afforded them by their Vocation, Pawns, and terrain to subdue this mighty construct.

The digital event also revealed gameplay for the Dullahan and Drake enemies. Dullahan is a headless specter capable of immobilizing its target before striking with its powerful curved blade. Drakes are fearsome draconic foes capable of breathing a potent flame when confronted and taking flight to shift the scales of combat.

Let's Talk About Digimon World Next Order
A game more for existing fans than new folks to the series.
3.0Overall Score

You know, I didn’t realise how out of my comfort zone I was going to be with Digimon World Next Order. Before this, I had never played any kind of Digimon game before. I’ve always been a Pokémon nerd. I even have a Psyduck tattoo. I have vague memories of seeing Digimon on TV at one point when I was small, and seeing Agumon. But beyond that? This was a totally blank slate for me. And friends, I definitely have some thoughts.

What is Digimon World Next Order?

Digimon World Next Order is the sixth instalment of the World franchise. It’s an adventure RPG, and originally came out on the PlayStation Vita in March of 2016 in Japan. It landed on PS4 in 2017 and has arrived on PC and Nintendo Switch in the last few weeks. The game is set in an open world, with a third-person perspective.

Machinedramon are running rampant throughout the Digimon World, and you have been pulled into the digital world to help out. However, it’s not just battling these powerful Digimon that you have to worry about. Floatia town also needs rebuilding. This involves finding friendly Digimon around the world, and completing tasks for them to return to the town. These range from gathering a certain food type to having battles, and all sorts of things in between. For the first time ever also, you get to play with TWO companions, instead of the standard one.

Poké-Girl in a Digimon World

There were a lot of adjustments for me when it came to Digimon World Next Order. In some ways, it’s similar to other games I’ve played. I am a fan of open-world RPGs. However, in a lot of ways, it’s completely different. Taking care of the needs of your Digimon is almost reminiscent of the Nintendo DS Nintendogs series- feed them, train them, clean up after them. Although, I don’t think I’ve encountered anything that needed the bathroom as often as a Digimon. However, all your attention and care adds up, and impacts how your Digimon will evolve or digivolve, in this case (still not used to that word).

Something that hasn’t totally clicked for me is names. They won’t stick in my brain, no matter how hard I try. Past Snow Agumon and Black Agumon, I cannot for the life of me remember what other Digimon I had. I did get very attached to those too, though. Until they digivolved into ridiculously ugly creatures. That sounds awful, I know, but so were the designs of what I got landed with. I’m a simple woman, I like cute things. And I am very much used to cuter designs. My friends, whatever the heck these were, they were not cute. At that moment, all I wanted was to be back with my Psyduck, Turtwig and Growlithe.

The battles were also super different for me. Turn-based combat definitely isn’t my favourite, but this particular style took me a while to wrap my head around. Once the mechanics of supporting and essentially letting my Digimon do their own thing until a big move was needed clicked in my head, combat was fun. A lot more fun than it felt when I went in blind. Unfortunately, that’s where things stopped clicking for me.

Next Order or Next Game?

I must preface this by saying Digimon World Next Order is not a bad game. It just isn’t the game for me. Let me explain. Something that put me off early on was the design of a chunk of the Digimon themselves. For every one that I liked, there were 2 more I didn’t like. The world design is fine. Nothing really new or unique for an open world. The colour schemes are pretty, and easy on the eyes. But to be completely honest, I didn’t like the characters or the story. I got bored of the story fast, and none of the characters were engaging to me at all. After the first couple of hours, playing became more like a chore for me. I was starting to get completely burnt out with gaming in general. In the end, I had to give up. I played this game A LOT. But I just could not bring myself to keep going with a story that bored me to tears and made me want to not game at all. It was just a complete and utter slog.

All that said, that is just my own personal experience with Digimon World Next Order. I think people already familiar with the franchise and the Digimon World series, in general, would get along quite well with this game. Maybe down the line, I’ll try this one again. Or maybe I’ll try a different game from the overall franchise. Sadly, this one was just not it for me.

One Piece is an incredible anime/manga. I myself, after a long time of being intimated by the length of the series, have become a fan in recent years. I love it, for its wonderful world-building, memorable characters and fascinating art style. Having watched 865 episodes, I have countless hours of enjoyment from this story. Today, however, I am not talking about One Piece, I am talking about One Piece Odyssey, the latest attempt to bring the wildness of Eiichiro Oda’s work to gaming.

One Piece Odyssey is a turn-based RPG with an “open world” for you to traverse with the Straw Hat crew. You get to command almost all of the Straw Hat crew in this latest One Piece title. The story of One Piece Odyssey sees the legendary crew marooned on a strange island. Once on the island they meet a strange girl who drains them of their memories, in doing so they lose their strength as well as their abilities. The only way to return their strength and get off this island is by going back into the past and reliving their memories, both happy and tragic.

This gives players the opportunity to relive pivotal moments in the story of One Piece. Several memorable arcs are shown off in stunning current-gen glory, and they look great. There is a polish to the cut scenes that is really impressive. Unfortunately, the memory segments feel hollow and due to the game giving an abridged version of the events, the arcs we visit (in particular the Marineford Arc) are emotionally vapid.

One Piece Odyssey – Nothing to see here

Also, the open world is really just a bunch of open fields that turn into corridors. There is a nice paint job over each environment but ultimately it’s a transition from open fields to corridors with a surprising number of invisible walls. I’d say the best segment of the game is Dressrosa. Getting to walk around that city is easily the most interesting segment of the game. Unfortunately, it comes too late.

The biggest disappointment though comes in the shape of the combat system. There is no joy, no wildness within it. It’s your average turn-based system with a few pointless bells and whistles thrown in. You have the iconic techniques from each crew member at your disposal, unfortunately, you spend the majority of the game earning them back, so for a time you’re using the same techniques over and over again.

After you use your technique you have to wait for your opponent to have their turn. It’s a monotonous war of attrition. The enemy designs are decent, they have the usual flair of Oda’s work. None of the bosses though are particularly challenging or have interesting game mechanics. As long as you stock up on items you can pretty much sail through them all. These include trick balls from Usopp that put status effects on the enemies and food from Sanji that can heal the whole team as well as buff them.

The two original characters introduced in the game, Adio and Lim are interesting. Watching Lim’s affection grow for the crew is well done. Adio is also an interesting if slightly predictable character.

Ultimately, I couldn’t get behind One Piece Odyssey. It sounds and looks like One Piece, however, it has none of the wildness within its combat system to engage gamers, in my opinion. Also for a story all about freedom and living your life, it felt quite restricted and mundane.
