Do you miss the days of the Tamagotchi? Well, we’ve got good news for you. 14 Hours Productions has announced their new title, Yolk Heroes: A Long Tamago, which will be coming soon to Steam, itch.io, Google Play Store, and App Store.

You are the Guardian Spirit of this realm and you have been tasked with raising elf heroes by the Fairy Queen. Your realm is in grave danger, the Dark Lord and their minions are attacking the countryside, your elves might be the only creatures who can save this land.

Yolk Heroes: A Long Tamago combines classic Tamagochi-style gameplay, where you raise and care for creatures at a slow relaxing pace, with RPG elements where you send your hero out on quests to test their strength. As you adventure with your hero, you will encounter new quests, equipment, areas, bosses, NPCs and consumables.

Falling in battle repeatedly or not caring for your hero’s needs properly means that your little elf will perish. However, fear not – as the Fairy Queen can always give you a new elf egg to raise! You can’t save a realm without breaking a few eggs, after all.

Elves, in their egg form, must be defended from the weather and other creatures. Once the egg cracks open, a cute baby elf pops out! As a Guardian Spirit, your next step will be to raise your baby to become a fully-fledged hero.

Yolk Heroes plays like a classic Tamagotchi or more recent idle game. Once your hero is doing an activity, you can sit back and relax. Have the hero defeat monsters on your second screen or in your pocket. Your hero will notify you when they need your help on what to do next.

Even heroes need their rest (and bathroom breaks). Take good care of your elf before (and after) every adventure. Train their strength, dexterity, or intelligence – make them rest or put them in a bath. Keep them entertained and keep them fed. Take the game at your own pace and only venture out into the world when you (and your elf) are ready.

Excited to raise your elves and protect the realm from evil? Wishlist Yolk Heroes: A Long Tamago on Steam now.

NEOWIZ has released a gameplay video ahead of the upcoming Brown Dust 2 release. The trailer showcases the fascinating combat system. In addition, the trailer showcases skill cutscenes for each character, mind-bending puzzles found in the “Evil Castle Pack,” RPG elements, PVP content via the “Mirror War Pack”.

The trailer is a tease for potential players ahead of Brown Dust 2’s Global Early Access Test on January 10th. Anyone can take part in the Global Early Access Test that will run from Tuesday, January 10th through January 17th. The Brown Dust 2 client can be accessed and downloaded from the Google Play Store.

I’m not the biggest fan of mobile games but I will say I’m cautiously optimistic about Brown Dust 2. The designs of the characters are interesting, the levels seem imaginative and the puzzles seem engaging. Only time will tell though. Check out the official site to learn more about this upcoming RPG and decide if you want to jump into this adventure.

In the board game arena, there are few games more iconic than Monopoly. We’ve all flipped a table or two in our time at a lost game. Well, Monopoly Tycoon aims to bring that experience to the palm of your hand!

Monopoly Tycoon is a free-to-play city-building game for Android and iOS. Far from the family ending their relationships around the dinner table, this game seems to take the franchise in a new direction. A single-player experience, Monopoly Tycoon features 3 maps (Atlantic City, Paris and London). The player, armed with their start-up capital, must wisely invest and grow their wealth. Rather than the more static development available in other editions of Monopoly, in this game, players can freely build hundreds of different, unique buildings and decorations. It seems the game will feel quite different from the board game adaptation, because you can place buildings freely throughout the city. So, if you like city-builders like SimCity or City Mania, this might just scratch that itch for you.

This isn’t the development team’s first adaptation of a popular franchise to mobile. For instance, Nvizzio Creations launched RollerCoaster Tycoon Touch in 2017, and reviews of that title are excellent. Also, way back in 2001, they launched the original Monopoly Tycoon. All that said, it seems like this project is in good hands.

Key Features of Monopoly Tycoon

Straight from the horse’s mouth, here’s what the developers claim Monopoly Tycoon will feature at launch;

  • Discover over a thousand buildings and decorations to collect, build and upgrade
  • Compete to acquire properties in the Auction House
  • Fulfill the needs from your houses and hotels to maximize rents
  • Complete missions to progress and get rewards
  • Draw Community Chest and Chance cards to boost your performance
  • Pass Go everyday to increase daily rewards
  • Resolve City Problems, by playing fun mini-games
  • Unlock three famous MONOPOLY board locations: Atlantic City, Paris and London.
  • Become the wealthiest real estate tycoon ever!

Additionally, Nvizzio are working closely with Hasbro – the game board giant who owns the original tabletop game. That lends credibility to the game but, above all, we’re hoping it means this title will feel like a proper adaptation, not just a city-builder with the Monopoly branding slapped on.

All in all, we at GamEir can’t wait to get stuck in and see how it feels. Players can download the game for free via iOS and Android, and follow the latest news for MONOPOLY TYCOON via TwitterFacebookYouTube and Instagram!

RPG Dice: Heroes of Whitestone, the tabletop-inspired character battler RPG, begins raiding dungeons on the App Store and Google Play on January 18th. WIMO Games’ debut title, built by a creative staff consisting of former Vice Presidents and gaming industry veterans from companies including Electronic Arts, GREE, Zynga, and KingsIsle Entertainment, brings an adventuring party with tremendous experience to battle.

Goblin, Orcs and Elves oh my!

The once-thriving village of Whitestone is under siege by the Twilight Empire. This is an evil organization whose ranks include nefarious goblins, savage orcs, and cunning elves. Not a fun bunch. The only opposition is the brave wizards, warriors, and rogues. These heroes are drawn to the city in the hopes of honour, glory, and loot.

Rally an adventuring group from more than 60 heroes. Then advance in each adventure through a tabletop-game like arena. Roll dice to move across the board and trigger different scenarios, like engaging turn-based combat. Create a balanced party by equipping unique dice to every character then upgrading their dice, skills and items to create an unstoppable team.

Traversing the board offers more than just combat options. Players will encounter tiles with NPC conversations to progress the story, tiles to complete quests or gain new ones, and chest tiles that offer up epic loot and equippable gear. The Blacksmith can arm heroes with better tools while the Greedy Goblin will steal the items needed to fight the Twilight Empire.

Players can face numerous challenges in RPG Dice: Heroes of Whitestone

Face the ultimate challenge: other people! PVP battles offer great rewards and a ranked progression system with online leaderboards. Form a guild to slay the deadly Swine Chief through the teamwork of many warriors. When the guild is strong enough, raid the Ziggurat, an endgame dungeon featuring the deadliest enemies in the game, and the most epic loot.

Potential saviours of Whitestone can prepare for their adventure by pre-registering on the App Store and Google Play. This will help the community unlock a variety of valuable rewards. This loot includes the Uncommon Rank 2 Combat Die, Rare Rank 3 Rogue Gloves, Rare Rank 3 Warrior Weapon Nightsteel Mace and the Verdant Doublet, an Epic Rank 4 Caster Chest Armour. With enough pre-registrations leading up to launch, warriors can earn the Orc Warrior Hero Thokrug.

“We loved the worlds we adventured through in tabletop RPGs growing up, said Dave Rosen, CEO, WIMO Games. RPG Dice: Heroes of Whitestone, is our love letter to those games and we’re excited for players to experience that letter on iOS and Android.”

What’s this? Why this is The Witcher: Monster Slayer. A new title developed and published by Spokko. Which is set long before the story of CD PROJEKT RED’s The Witcher series of games.

In a time where monsters freely roam the land in large numbers, the relatively new role of ‘witcher’ has become essential across the Continent. That’s right folks you are a newly inducted witcher! Yay, you’re an orphan or an unwanted child!

In The Witcher: Monster Slayer, players will see the world around them transformed into the dark-fantasy realm known from The Witcher universe. As a freshly trained witcher themselves, they will engage with location-based gameplay and advanced augmented reality features to track down and hunt bloodthirsty monsters lurking nearby.

Users can now pre-register on Google Play in order to start their journey on the Path the moment the game launches. By pre-registering, players will receive the Kaer Morhen Steel Sword. This weapon will be added to their inventory immediately when they begin their adventure. This will allow players to receive 10% more Experience Points in-game with every monster they kill. Which is a pretty nifty bonus.

If I’m being honest though. This is a bittersweet reveal. The idea of a player becoming a freshly trained witcher is great. I would have prefered it not to be a mobile game, especially an augmented reality game at that. After all how much fun would it be to forge your own witcher. Players would actually get to experience the trials.

WFS has announced a crossover between Another Eden: The Cat Beyond Time and Space, the mobile adventure game across time and space, and the Tales of series. The release is scheduled for December the 17th and will be a simultaneous release in both the Japanese and global versions of the game.

In-game Tales of series crossover with Another Eden: The Cat Beyond Time and Space

In the crossover with the Tales of series, to celebrate its 25th anniversary on December 15th, characters will be featured from the four titles, Tales of Phantasia, Tales of Vesperia, Tales of Xillia, and Tales of Berseria, and will be released along with the crossover content on December 17th.

The crossover content can be played at any time, and is not time-limited. After clearing the quest in Symphony “Tails of Time and the Brave Four: Tales of Chronographia,” players will obtain Tales of characters Cress, Yuri, Milla, and Velvet.

After completion, players can strengthen the four characters and upgrade them to their 5-star classes by playing the extra contents called the “Trial of Spirits.” In addition to the four playable characters, Tales of characters such as Mint, Arche, Repede, Rowen, and Magilou will appear in the crossover quest.

Furthermore, new mechanics that are familiar to Tales of fans will be introduced along with the crossover, such as skits, cooking, and Mystic Artes. In the skits, players can play through conversations between the characters from Another Eden and Tales of.

Original opening animation and theme song

An original opening animation has been created by the Japanese anime production studio, Production I.G., exclusively for the crossover. The theme song is also written for the crossover by DEEN, the musical band familiar to Tales of fans.
The collaboration between Production I.G. and DEEN is the first one since the release of Tales of Destiny and Tales of Hearts, and the lyrics of the new song, “Machigainai Sekai,” are inspired by the Another Eden crossover. The opening animation is available in the crossover trailer, and will also be available in-game along with the crossover content.

Replica is an interactive novel from Somi. You may recognise it  – it’s been around since 2016 – but it just recently came to Nintendo Switch. Also, I never got a chance to play it on any other platform, so this review is with fresh eyes. Fabulous. Let’s get right to it!

What’s Replica all about, then?

I’m glad you asked! Replica is a game that puts you in the shoes of a political prisoner. You have been handed the phone of another inmate, and told that you must find evidence of criminal activity by hacking into this phone and reporting back to your captors. The whole thing takes place on a phone screen – it’s a little reminiscent of Unfriended or Searching in form if you’ve seen those.

When I say “hacking”, perhaps you’re thinking of Keanu Reeves slamming raw code into a black & green terminal. No, Replica is more like real lifehacking. It’s mainly in the form of guessing passwords – finding birthdays, special dates, significant phases etc. Over the course of the game’s admittedly short story, you’ll learn bits and pieces of the life of the phone’s owner. Read texts, trawl through photo metadata, and scroll through this guy’s social media account. Yes, it feels as weird as it sounds. In a good way, however.

Authoritarian Surveillance State Nightmare Never Read so Awkwardly

Replica feels pretty good. Other than the pixel art aesthetic, it really does replicate (haha) the experience of using a phone. It truly makes you feel a little icky and invasive reading through this dude’s texts from his mum. That said, the writing left an awful lot to be desired. There’s no real subtlety to any of it.

The agent from Homeland Security is less O’Brien from Nineteen Eighty-Four and more Big Bad Government Guy from South Park. Very little in the game is irrelevant or just for flavour. A little disappointing considering Somi is a South Korean developer – just across the border from the most famous surveillance state on the planet.

That may have something to do with the length. You’ll finish Replica in maybe half an hour if you take your time. HowLongToBeat puts a completionist playthrough – all endings – at 3.5 hours, but I think that’s quite generous. Most of that time will be repeating content, too.

The Old Switcheroo

I have to say, I was a little disappointed that Somi didn’t take advantage of the Switch as a platform. There’s no portrait mode – which is weird, as the main play space is explicitly portrait – and you can’t realistically play with touch controls. Touch is an option, it’s unfortunately just implemented very poorly. Also, as a port, it feels rushed, which is sad because this kind of game would be perfect for the Switch’s unique form factor and touchscreen.

All that said, Replica is the price of a pint. It’s pretty unique, standing in the auspicious company of games like Paper’s, Please and Return of the Obra Dinn. If you’re looking for a short game to keep you occupied on a train ride, it’s perfect.

Brawlhalla where all legends are welcome

In addition to these Legends, players can also play as Epic Crossovers, including Finn and Jake from Cartoon Network’s Adventure Time and aliens such as Diamondhead, Four Arms and Heatblast from Cartoon Network’s Ben 10 (exciting).

It’s great to see that Brawlhalla is drawing on other sources for warriors in their arena. I wonder who else they’ll bring in as the game continues to grow. Hopefully, now that Brawlhalla is everywhere the devs will focus on making it that everyone wants to play.
