TEKKEN 8 – Somehow Heihachi returned

For the first time ever in TEKKEN history, TEKKEN 8 adds an entirely new chapter to its story mode, expanding on “The Dark Awakens” storyline, which continues the clash between the Kazama and Mishima families. “The Dark Awakens” story mode expansion will be available as a free update for all TEKKEN 8 players.

Following an epic conclusion to the EVO 2024 finals resulting in a newly crowned champion, Arslan Ash, the company also announced the location of the 2024 Tekken World Tour Finals. The finals will be held in Tokyo, Japan on the 8th of December 2024 with group stages for Global and Regional Leaderboards beginning on the 5th of December.

In BLEACH Rebirth of Souls, players will be able to use each character’s unique skills to gain the upper hand over their opponents in stylish swordfights with characters from the franchise. However, they will also be able to utilise features such as the reverse action and well-timed precise combos to get themselves back from a tricky position. As the fight progresses, characters will be able to use their iconic Bankai to unleash very powerful and unique attacks to finish their opponents.

BLEACH is a very popular sword-fighting battle action comic series that ran in Shueisha’s shōnen manga magazine, Weekly Shonen Jump, from 2001 to 2016. The anime was broadcast from 2004 to March 2012 and a total of four movie versions have been released so far. Then there is the final chapter, Thousand-Year Blood War Arc. Which features all-new character designs and more powerful characters. BLEACH has received enthusiastic support not only in Japan but also worldwide and its popularity continues to grow.

BLEACH Rebirth of Souls is currently under development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PC.

What was once full of life, nature, and vibrant beauty is now overtaken by an ominous defilement and the Seethe, throwing those who live on it into turmoil. Sway, slash, and strategise your way to the Torii gates as Soh, the guardian whose goal is to protect the mountain’s Maiden Yoshiro from the sinister Seethe. The Maiden of the mountain is blessed with sacred powers that purge the defilement through majestic, ceremonial kagura dances.

With this brand-new IP brought to life by the Capcom RE ENGINE, players can explore a fresh take on the tactical action genre rich with striking visual designs, various Japanese cultural inspirations, and a unique day-to-night gameplay cycle. Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess features a ton of new and fresh gameplay elements.

• A Unique Day/Night Cycle: During the day, players explore the village, purify the “defiled” villagers, assign those villagers various roles, and choose where to place them in order to best protect the Maiden Yoshiro and prepare for sundown. When night falls, Soh and the villagers must work together to protect Yoshiro against the hordes of emergent Seethe as they spill out of the Torii gates that are spread throughout the mountain.
• Encountering Diverse Villagers: As residents of Mt. Kafuku, the villagers need to be saved from the defilement and assigned various roles so they can aid in the battle against the Seethe. Learn the different characteristics of each villager’s role, including Woodcutters, Ascetics, Archers and more to prepare the villagers for a fierce fight. Players can also upgrade villager roles to get more support and issue commands to the villagers while fighting alongside them to defeat the Seethe and purify each village.
• Taking on the Sinister Seethe: When night falls, the Seethe will emerge from the other world. As they target the Maiden with a variety of terrifying attacks, it is up to the protagonist Soh to use dance-like sword techniques and command the villagers. Decide whether you should focus on close-quarters melee attacks yourself or support tactics. Test your strategic abilities with the constantly changing battlegrounds and different Seethe variants.

Visitors to the Cygames booth will have the opportunity to play a preview demo of update Version 1.50. In addition to balance changes for existing characters like Gran and Lucilius, the update will also feature a brand-new character to be revealed for the first time at Evo 2024.

• Autograph Session with CyDesignation’s Hideo Minaba

The Cygames booth will be hosting an autograph session with Hideo Minaba, president of CyDesignation, who oversaw the character designs for Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising.

Special signing opportunities

Born in Tokyo on August 2nd, 1971, Minaba began his career at Square Co., Ltd. at the age of 19. He rose through the ranks to eventually become the art director of the Final Fantasy series. After going independent, he helped found Designation Co., Ltd. and CyDesignation Inc. Here he served as character designer for the Granblue Fantasy series in addition to his many other roles.

The booth will also host another autograph session featuring Tetsuya Fukuhara, creative director on GBVSR, and Motohiro Okubo, CEO of Cygames America. Signable cards, created especially for Evo 2024, will be distributed at both sessions.

Tournament and Watch Party with Special Guests

Cygames has invited Kizzie Kay and Mike Ross, prolific members of the fighting game community, to compete in a friendly GBVSR tournament at the Cygames booth. Additionally, Kizzie Kay and Mike Ross will be hosting a watch party for Evo 2024’s main GBVSR tournament. Evo 2024 attendees are invited to the booth to participate.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails Through Daybreak is out now RPG fans and it is brilliant. With a new bunch of characters, with some old favourites peppered in, this is a fascinating new chapter.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails Through Daybreak: Welcome to Calvard

After years of travelling across Zemuria, beginning my adventure in Erebonia with Class 7, and then making my way to Crossbell with the SS, it’s exciting to finally be in Calvard. With Van, the self-proclaimed spriggan, players find themselves embroiled in a battle for the soul of Calvard as sinister forces are using its recent prosperity to change the country, and not for the better.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails Through Daybreak has all the stalwarts of previous entries. It includes an eccentric cast of playable characters, equally impressive villains and a thoroughly fleshed-out world.

What has changed is several quality-of-life elements. There has been an upgrade in graphics which allows the denizens of Calvard to pop off the screen. The various locations are also enchanting to visit.

On top of this though is an overhaul of the combat system. There are two styles of combat. One is where you throw out a “shard” which thrusts everyone in it into battle. This is similar to the original entries, however, there is a fluidity to it that makes it feel looser and more intense. Then there is the second combat style.

With this second style, you dodge and attack your enemies, though you don’t get full access to your skills, arts or crafts there is a wildness to it that I enjoyed. These two styles make for a thoroughly enjoyable time whenever Van and his motley crew do battle with the baddies, whether they be monsters, the villainous Almata or old favourites Oroborous.

Helping in these battles is a new kind of orbment filled with shiny new toys. Utilising the Xipha allows you to add status effects to your weapons, increase buffs at the beginning of a battle and so much more. It’s an impressive new iteration of a feature that has been around for a while in the franchise.

Embrace the Nightmare

One of the new elements which reminded me of playing as Rean and Valimar was the power of Grendel. This being is a kind of demonic armour which Van utilises in battle. It’s a lot of fun and evolves as the story progresses.

If there were any issues it would be some complacencies that just pet peeves. We are far into this series and still, there are no weapon skins when you buy a new weapon, which is something I love in RPGs.

Following Van, Agnes, Feri and the rest of this new merry band has been a lot of fun and the ramifications of The Legend of Heroes: Trails Through Daybreak will be sure to excite longtime fans.

GUNDAM BREAKER 4 ONT lets players break, build and battle with up to two of their friends, complete quests, and customise their Gunpla to achieve their goal of creating the very best. Pre-download will start on 18^th July at 23:00 BST with the ONT happening at the times below:

  • Session 2 from 10:00 BST to 16:00 BST

In addition to the ONT, GUNDAM BREAKER 4 will have a collaboration with PAC-MAN. This will be available when it is released on the 29th of August. A level inspired by the iconic mazes of PAC-MAN will be available. Here players will have the task to defeat a giant PAC-MAN-themed Gundam RX-78-2. By playing this mission players will be able to get the PAC-MAN-themed emblem and use it on their Gunpla.

CRAFTS & MEISTER Co., Ltd develops GUNDAM BREAKER 4 and will have players fighting their enemies solo or with up to two friends in co-op multiplayer. In addition, the game goes back to the roots of the franchise. This lets players create the Gunpla of their dreams with a large collection of mobile suits and parts to date. As well as a new diorama mode.

The game’s demo will be available during the Japan Expo Paris at the Bushiroad Games booth. Following the announcement of M. Daisuke Ishiwatari, CCO of Arc System Works, ASWE will also organise several special animations for this occasion.

A video game developer and publisher that has gained international recognition for its innovative and spectacular combat systems with 2D and 3D illustrations through licenses such as Guilty Gear, Arc System Works is extending its influence and activities in Europe with a new Arc System Works Europe subsidiary in Paris.

It’s exciting to see a new HUNTER×HUNTER project coming. After all, I myself am a huge fan of both the anime and manga. I’m looking forward to what this might mean for the franchise as a whole.
